COOKIE POLICY

LAST UPDATE: 23rd March 2025

Article 22.2 of Law 34/2002 on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (“LSSI-CE“) of July 11 establishes the obligation for blogging service providers and website owners to notify and inform users (the “Users“) about the existence of cookie technology, what cookies are, how they work, and the necessary permissions required for their use.

In compliance with the LSSI-CE, this website (hereinafter, the “Website“) collects and uses User information as indicated in the Privacy Policy and the Legal Notice; in this regard, one of the ways in which The Ocean Explorers collects information is through the use of cookies.

1. WHAT ARE COOKIES?

A cookie is a small amount of information stored in your browser (such as Google Chrome or Apple Safari) when you browse most websites. This allows the browser to remember certain information that only the implementing entity can later read (hereinafter, “Cookies“).

This Website is accessible without requiring Cookies to be enabled. However, disabling Cookies may prevent the proper functioning of the Website.

On the other hand, viruses, trojans, worms, spam, spyware, or pop-up windows are not considered Cookies.

2. WHAT INFORMATION DO COOKIES STORE?

The information collected through Cookies consists of technical and statistical data (which may include the date and time of visits to the Website, pages viewed, time spent on the Website), personal preferences, and content customization, among others.

However, no Cookie allows for the storage of phone numbers or any other means of personal contact, as well as sensitive information such as credit card details, banking information, photographs, or personal data. Cookies cannot extract information from Users’ hard drives or steal personal information. The only way private User information can be part of a Cookie file is if the User personally provides that information to the server and consents to its transfer and storage.

3. WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES EXIST?

  • Technical or Functional Cookies: These are the most essential and allow, among other things, the identification of human versus automated browsing, distinguishing between registered and anonymous users, and enabling basic functions necessary for the operation of any dynamic website.
  • Statistics Cookies: These collect information about browsing behavior, such as the most visited sections, consulted products, usage time, language preferences, etc.
  • Marketing / Tracking Cookies: These display advertisements based on browsing behavior, country of origin, language, and other factors.

4. WHAT ARE FIRST-PARTY AND THIRD-PARTY COOKIES?

  • First-Party Cookies

These are Cookies sent to the User’s computer or device and managed exclusively by The Ocean Explorers to ensure the proper functioning of the Website. The information collected is used to improve the Website’s quality, content, and services, as well as the User’s experience. These Cookies help recognize returning Users and adjust content to fit their preferences.

The entity/entities providing the Cookies may transfer this information to third parties, as required by law or if a third party processes the information on their behalf.

  • First-Party Cookies Used by The Ocean Explorers

  • Preference Cookies: Store User settings, such as preferred language and privacy configurations.

Use of Cookies on the Website

The Cookies used on the Website are associated solely with an anonymous User and their device. They do not provide references that enable the identification of the User’s full name, nor can they read data from the User’s hard drive or contain viruses in their content. Likewise, the Website cannot read Cookies that have been placed on the User’s hard drive by other servers.

Like most websites, this Website includes functionalities provided by third parties (see section 4.2 above). In this regard, new third-party designs or services may be tested regularly for recommendations and reports. These tests may temporarily modify the Cookie settings, causing the appearance of Cookies not detailed in this Policy. It is important to note that such Cookies are provisional, and it may not always be possible to notify users in advance. Their purpose is strictly for analysis and evaluation. If they become permanent, they will be included in this Cookie Policy.

Finally, The Ocean Explorers will never use Cookies that compromise your privacy or sensitive personal information.

5. What Information Do Cookies Store?

The information collected through Cookies includes technical and statistical data, such as the date and time of visits, pages viewed, the duration of time spent on the Website, personal preferences, and content customization, among others.

However, Cookies do not store telephone numbers or any other personal contact details, nor do they contain sensitive personal data, such as credit card numbers, banking information, photographs, or other private information. Likewise, Cookies cannot extract data from Users’ hard drives or steal personal information.

The only way that a User’s private information could be stored within Cookies is if the User voluntarily provides such information to the server and expressly consents to its transfer and storage.

6. User Consent for the Use of Cookies

In compliance with LSSI-CE, the User’s consent is required for the Website to use Cookies. This authorization must be given as a genuine choice, through an affirmative and explicit action by the User.

To this end, The Ocean Explorers has placed a Cookie notice (“Cookie Notice”) at the bottom of all pages on the Website. This Cookie Notice informs the User that by continuing to browse the Website and explicitly clicking the acceptance button, they consent to the use of Cookies as set forth in this Cookie Policy and the Legal Notice.

7. Disabling or Blocking Cookies

To restrict, block, or delete Cookies, the User must adjust their browser settings as follows:

Google Chrome: Turn Cookies on or off

Mozilla Firefox: Enhanced Tracking Protection in Firefox for desktop

Microsoft Edge: Manage cookies in Microsoft Edge: View, allow, block, delete and use

If the User does not want the Website to install Cookies on their device, they can configure their browser settings to notify them before a Cookie is placed. Likewise, Users can adjust their settings to reject all Cookies or only third-party Cookies. They can also delete any Cookies already stored on their device. The User must configure each browser and device separately, as preferences do not automatically transfer between browsers or devices.

If the User chooses to disable Cookies, The Ocean Explorers cannot guarantee the proper functionality of the Website. Some features may be lost, and certain sections may no longer be accessible.

Each browser has different settings for managing Cookies. If needed, Users should consult their browser’s help section for precise instructions.

Finally, to disable Cookies on mobile devices, Users should consult the device’s manual for more information.

8. Additional Information on Cookies

In addition to this Policy, Users can refer to the guidelines on Cookies issued by the Spanish Data Protection Agency, Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD) in its “Guía sobre el uso de las Cookies” (Guide on the Use of Cookies), as well as obtain further information from reputable sources such as AboutCookies.org.

9. Changes to the Cookie Policy

The Ocean Explorers reserves the right to modify this Cookie Policy at any time and without prior notice. In such cases, The Ocean Explorers will update the Cookie Policy on the Website and notify Users via email.
